Welcome to Sea Cliff

A relaxed and close-knit community with a flavor all its own

This tiny one-square-mile village sits on the coast between Glen Cove and Port Washington in the Town of Oyster Bay. Known for its stunning waterfront views, historic architecture, and a close-knit community, Sea Cliff is often described as one of Long Island's most desirable places to live. Its picturesque streets, tree-lined avenues, and coastal atmosphere make it an ideal destination for those looking for a tranquil yet vibrant lifestyle.

You won’t find any cookie-cutter homes here, and all the residents know each other by name, making this hamlet a true escape from the bustle of nearby Manhattan. Sea Cliff is revered for its acclaimed school district, a strong athletic program for kids, walkability, and proximity to both the city and the water.

What to Love

 • A laid-back small town where everyone knows your name
 • Neighborhood streets filled with music, chatting and children riding bikes
 • A walkable community with active residents and engaged families

Local Lifestyle

Sea Cliff residents either work on Long Island or commute into the city but love to kick back on the weekends by playing golf, heading to the beach, or fishing and boating. Young families make up a good deal of the population here, and because it's such a small town, the parent community is strongly intertwined.

Dining, Entertainment & Shopping

The quaint downtown area along Sea Cliff Avenue is a hub of local activity, with charming shops, artist galleries, and a wide selection of restaurants and cafes. Campground, a popular main street coffee shop and beer store, provides a casual spot to meet for work or play.  There is also Tavern 227, a “Brooklyn style” Italian restaurant, or Still Partners, a gastropub mainstay, open late on weekends often featuring live music. Another local favorite is Onion Tree, an Indian restaurant known for it's prize-winning Neapolitan pizzas. For a fun date night idea or gift shop, check out Frost Ceramics.

Things to Do

This small town has no shortage of things to do! Mini Mart kicks off the fall with a street fair in early October, while Sunset Serenade brings live music every Thursday night to Clifton Park during the summer months. Every June, residents love Garage Sale Day, and given how walkable the town is, you can imagine this day-long event is a blast. There is not one, but two local beaches, with playgrounds for kids, and music and more for adults. Sea Cliff Beach has a live-music bandstand featuring local artists and a beachside cafe — one of the more popular places during the summer! In the winters, skaters watch for Scudder's Pond to freeze and take to the ice, or grab their skis and sleds and maneuver the sleepy streets and the local golf course.

Residents say that highlights of a busy social calendar include an all-day music festival known as Porchfest, an annual Progressive Dinner for newcomers and locals alike, and a beer-fueled golf tournament that winds its way through villagers backyards.

Schools

Although Sea Cliff shares the top-rated North Shore School District with neighboring Glen Head and Glenwood Landing, the elementary schools are kept separate. Kids in town attend Sea Cliff Elementary, then matriculate to North Shore Middle School and North Shore Senior High School.
